International Summer School in Human Sciences, University of Jyväskyläare, Finland

Summer School of University of Jyväskyläare pleased to welcome  students to 15th international Summer School in Human Sciences offered on May 21 - June 15, 2018. The Summer School comprises of 21 interdisciplinary courses for students interested in e.g. cultural and communication studies, education, business & economics, sport and health sciences and social sciences.

Students are accepted to the Summer School in the framework of the bilateral cooperation agreements between the University of Jyväskylä and partner universities. Depending on the agreement signed between institutions and the number of courses the students take, 2-3 Summer School students would equal to one semester-long mobility.

The application deadline is 1 March 2018. You are welcome to apply for the full summer school programme or parts of it.  Each course lasts one week and they are 2-5 ECTS credits.

University of Greifswald - Programmes and Possibilities for 2018 (Summer School and International Students Festival),Germany

Greifswald Summer School takes place from the 6th August to the 14th October. Participants can choose to stay between two to eight week during that time and Greifswald Summer School offer both German language classes for any level and a broad cultural programme including excursions on the weekends.  The Greifswald International Students Festival (GrIStuF) takes place from 16th to 23th of June. The motto this time is "Beyond Borders – Where are Your Limits?" Its goal is to connect students from all over the world and create a space for dialogue which overcomes differences in nationalities, origin and religion.

Hokkaido Summer Institute 2018 [Hokkaido University, JAPAN]

Hokkaido University (HU) was established in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College with a mission to produce graduates needed for the development of the frontier, Hokkaido island. During the institution’s long history of more than 140 years, HU has fostered the four basic philosophies of education and research: Frontier Spirit, Global P As a part of the future reform strategy towards the 150th anniversary of Hokkaido University (HU), the university launched the Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) in 2016, utilizing the climate advantage of summer in Hokkaido which is cooler than any other regions of Japan. HSI is a program that brings together leading researchers with proven educational and research track records from around the world, and provides courses in collaboration with HU faculty members. In 2018, more than 160 researchers from over 110 universities/research institutes from all over the world will gather at HU.
HSI allows participants to expand their knowledge of subjects in cutting-edge fields of research at HU that previously were open only to students of the university. Program participants have an opportunity to attend classes that employ attractive educational techniques, such as field training in Hokkaido’s extensive land resources and active learning activities, so they can develop into professionals capable of thriving on the world stage.
All instruction at HSI is in English. This provides international students with a stress-free learning environment without having to worry about language barriers, and also creates a special opportunity for Japanese students, who can audit classes taught by internationally acclaimed researchers. The university strongly hopes that HSI students will cultivate a better understanding of other cultures and improve their English-language proficiency and communication skills through exchanges with researchers and students from other countries. Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme (2018/2019)

Hungary provides high quality education in the heart of Europe. Today, there is a growing demand of international students to study in Hungary. Besides the quality of education and degrees recognised throughout Europe and beyond, students are attracted by the affordable living costs with an extremely favourable cost-to-value ratio, a safe and friendly living environment with convenient public transportation, the central location of the country in Europe and the unspoiled natural beauties combined with a 2000 year-old, rich Hungarian history and several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hungary is also within the top countries with the highest number of scientific Nobel Prize Winners per capita, and a numerous scientific inventions from Vitamin C to Rubik’s cube and so on.

Thousands of students from all around the world apply for higher educational studies in Hungary each year. The number of Stipendium Hungaricum applicants is continuously increasing as well as the number of available scholarship places. In the academic year 2018/2019 approximately 5000 students can begin their studies in Hungary in the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme.

The programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary or between higher education institutions. Currently more than 50 Sending Partners are engaged in the programme throughout 4 different continents. The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The core mission of the programme is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students.

The Programme is managed by Tempus Public Foundation.

Since the last round of applications, the number of Sending Partners has increased, therefore more and more students have the chance to apply for the scholarship to study in Hungary. At the time of writing, 60 Sending Partners are engaged in the programme throughout 5 different continents. With the number of Stipendium Hungaricum applicants, the number of available scholarship places is also increasing.

Pre-University Semester, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal

The NOVA's Pre-University Semester is a multidisciplinary project created for international students who finished secondary school and are looking for an international university program. The project enables the most successful students to easily enroll to some of NOVA's university courses. 

The academic semester begins in February 2018 and enables the student to choose four different elective courses and attend classes both in English or Portuguese.

The student will live and study in Lisbon, a safe and cosmopolitan city, and at the same time improve his/her English skills. Living within the university context, the student will more easily make the right choice regarding his/her academic future (undergraduate or integrated master) at NOVA.

The costs – tuition fees and cost of living - are affordable when compared to other International institutions (European or non-European).

The program, that enables students to get ready for their university experience, is ideal for non-European students, since they can easily apply thanks to the special conditions ruled by the International Student Statute.
